About God in the City
Christian City Church, God in the City is a young and vibrant church located in the heart of Darlinghurst. When God in the City began its services 6 years ago, Pastor Tim and Kirrily Lowe, noticed many members were young artists and designers. With a vision to connect and see their lives flourish, the Propeller art exhibition was born. It became a space for their gifts to be nurtured and the dreams propelled. Propeller has now grown to be one of Sydney's most popular and innovative exhibitions.
What is Propeller?
Propeller is a volunteer, community based initiative of Christian City Church "God In The City". The vision of propeller is to connect and propel emerging creative talent. Propeller provides a place of expression, inspiration and connection for artists and helps develop the unique talent and creativity within our church and the local community.
Each year God in the City presents the Art and Design Award, Fashion Show and Short Film Award, giving Sydney's emerging artists the opportunity to display their work to the public and industry professionals at a grass roots level The art exhibition
Propeller Visual Art exhibition was opened for the first time in the year 2000 with the aim to give young artists a place to express their creativity. Over the years Propeller art has become a successful forum for emerging Sydney artists to exhibit their work in the public arena and to connect them with industry professionals.
To date Propeller Art show has featured the works in diverse mediums such as painting, photography, sculpture, printing, mixed media, wearable art, illustration and design. Many of the entrants have come from the best of Sydney's prestigious art schools. Some artists are first-time exhibitors while others are noted for winning prizes and accolades for past works. All are welcome to enter. The historic architecture, hand-carved sandstone walls and aged-wooden floors provide the perfect setting for the appreciation and sale of fine art. Works to be hung will be selected by the Propeller team and prizes awarded on the opening night by our distinguished panel of judges. |
